Australia Calculator Methodology
Rule version AU-2026-27-v1, effective 1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027, last reviewed 7 October 2026.
How Australia estimates are built
Each calculator passes validated inputs into a pure, tax-year-versioned engine. Income flows through assessable income, deductions, taxable income, marginal tax, offsets, Medicare, MLS, HELP and other liabilities. Employer super remains separate from employee tax deductions.
Rounding and unknowns
Money outputs are rounded to cents after each material component. A rule that cannot be determined from the supplied facts is disclosed rather than silently treated as zero. Annual PAYG estimates are not described as exact pay-period withholding.
Testing
Boundary tests cover every resident tax threshold, HELP cut-over and state duty boundary at the threshold, one dollar below and one dollar above. Golden examples cover the published $100,000 income-tax result.
Limitations
These tools are general estimates, not an ATO or state revenue assessment. Complex residency, trusts, main-residence CGT, business concessions and personalised offsets require professional review.
