Editorial policy
How we write, review and update tax content β and what we will never do.
Last updated
Accuracy first
Tax is a high-stakes topic. Every page states its jurisdiction, tax year and last review date, links to official sources and explains how the figures are calculated. Numbers in worked examples are produced by the same engine as the calculator.
Genuinely local content
We do not publish country pages that only swap names or currencies. Each country uses its own terminology, tax-year dates, rules, thresholds, examples, sources and regional routing β for example Scottish Income Tax bands, or LBTT and LTT instead of Stamp Duty in Scotland and Wales.
Review process
- Technical review: rates and formulas are checked against the official sources and covered by automated tests before release.
- Editorial review: wording is checked for clarity, scope and accurate labelling of estimates and assumptions.
- Annual review: every calculator is placed in a review queue before each new tax year and whenever a Budget or fiscal event changes the rules.
Content is drafted with the help of software tools and checked by our team against primary sources. We are working towards independent review by a qualified tax adviser and will name reviewers on each page once that is in place.
Advertising and affiliates
Advertising and affiliate partnerships never change calculator outputs or editorial conclusions. Sponsored content and affiliate modules are always clearly labelled and appear after the result.
